      Did you know that your thermal transfer printer OEM recommends regular preventative maintenance as a way to protect against premature printhead failure and poor print quality? Unfortunately, less than 20% of printer owners follow this advice – even though the printhead is their most expensive consumable and causes the most print-related problems.

      Clean Start® is a printhead cleaning feature that is built right into your Thermal Transfer ribbon. It removes debris and dust from your printhead before it builds up and impacts the print quality.

      This short video tutorial will show how to use Clean Start®.  

      Follow these steps to take advantage of Clean Start® 

      Step 1

      Rewind Label Stock 
      Install replacement ribbon 

      Step 2

      Feed leader through 

      Stop once CleanStart® is past printhead 

      Step 3

      Lock printhead down 

      Step 4

      Using 2 hands, pull CleanStart® through using smooth, steady force
      Stop before ribbon passes printhead 

      Step 5

      Unlock the printhead 
      Printhead cleaning is complete
